The Child There he was as innocent as a child can be handing a man a package to unwrap. Not uttering a word leaving it to the man's own mind to determine the child's need. Never seeing this child before and not even knowing where he came from the man offers to unwrap the package for the child. The child walks away smile glued upon his face even though it seemed to be a permanent fixture for this child to have. Not a fear in the world did this child exhibit just a friendly demeanor to everyone he saw. From this child evoked another response this from a women who saw this child as a special little person that she would love to embrace. "I want to take him home!" was her response. How often is it that we look at a stranger and see only the wonderful reflection that he or she is portraying? How often would we try to determine the need of an adult if they were to stand before us with a package and not speak a word? Is this only possible with the innocence of a child before our eyes? Cynical as it may sound the scenario is all to often reality. For we expect adults to be self sufficient, and if they are not, we feel they should be put away somewhere or at the least have someone assisting them. We as competent adults need to reach out to more strangers in our daily lives excusing fear as our reason to shy away. The end result of our reaching out to others is that we become stronger in our faith by doing what should come naturally from being God's children. |

I'll add an Amen as well. Sometimes I wonder if children should have been born as adults and adults be known as kids cause sometimes just the natural wisdom of a child is more often right then it isnt. Their meekness, humble responses to a warm loving kiss on the cheek allows for a true relationship that sometimes adults may continue to seek for the rest of their lives. They have an easier acceptance of one another without hiding their faces. They may argue with some close friends or even argue with those they do not know but how soon does a child forgive and forget. We could learn a lot from a child. I have watched many children unconsciously go up to a starnger and start spreading the word of God, while adults are too embarrased or just dont want to. We do need to reach out to more strangers, and I think we can learn a valuable lesson from children as well as from this poem! Good job, thank you for sharing! ------------------ ~*~ Time erases and rewrites all the lines. What remains is the poetry! ~*~ |
