If Jesus Loves Me

If Jesus loves me
and I know this,
for the Bible
tells me so, and
if to Him
a child like me belongs,
though full of sin
and weak, but He stands strong
in valiant fight
against the foe
(one devil of a foe, I'm told)--
I might be quite
all right, you know,
and find a flowing,
glowing peace within
myself, the little one
whom Jesus (yes,
the Bible tells me so!)
so dearly loves.

You just sent me back to my young childhood I so remember singing that song in Sunday School I believe it was my favorite. No if's about it my friend Jesus loves all of us. Enjoyed your poem, great job please come back and share some more of your talent with us.

I hope I don't upset the lawyers and staff around here, humming "Jesus Loves Me, Yes I Know..." as the tune is now firmly entrenched in my brain!

Thank you all for your kind remarks. The song "Jesus Loves Me" endures because it is so simple and so true. I wrote the poem during a time I was battling depression. It was/is a reminder to myself of the most enduring truth.

Well as a Sunday School teacher I am constantly singing this song, but it was a nice surprise to be singing it not jsut at church. The way you used the song to portray your message is wonderful and I think you did a fantastic job. And thank you not only for sharing this with us, but for bring such a wonderful yet easily forgotten song to our minds today!
