But What About…?

Have you seen my servant Job, and how he’s true to me?
I’ve seen your servant Job, and why is plain to see.
Who wouldn’t he be true to you, for all those riches too?
But test him once or twice, then see what he’ll do.

First it was his wealth, the devil took away from him.
That is how he learned, he wasn’t loyal on a whim.
Possessions didn’t matter, that’s not what made him true.
Although it wasn’t easy, and made him somewhat blue.

The biggest test came next, it involved his family.
It was the hardest test of all, to see how true he’d be.
He was told the news, that all his children were dead.
The devil thought he’d cave, but he was true instead.

Finally he took his health, to see if he’d be true.
It turned out God was right, He knew what he would do.
He had experienced all there was, to the problem of adversity.
But he didn’t budge, and was as faithful as he could be.

His wife was no support, said “he should curse God and die.”
But he remained steadfast, even though he wondered why.
His three friends were even worse, and said it was his fault.
He thought they needed therapy, and they should try Gestault.

Have you seen my servant Job, and how he’s true to me?
I’ve seen your servant Job, and why is truly hard for me.
Who would be true to You, just because You love them too?
And now he prays for others, it seems he loves like you.

If Job had been born later, and Jesus had already done the cross,
And then Job would ask, what about my pain and loss?
God would answer back, I understand your pain and loss,
Lest you forget My gift, that was My Son upon the cross.

Some say that the book of Job is one of the if not the oldest story in the Bible.... A true tale of Hope that has been passed down through time to all ages and to all generations that encourages us all to hold on to our Promises given to us by God.... Amen. My friend, truly, the best is yet to come. God bless you and thank you for sharing.

Larry C: This is a wonderful poem and deals with one of my favorite books of the Bible. Thank you for posting it. Great messages in it for everyone.

A wonderfully written poem. I enjoyed this summary of Job, and all the lessions you mentioned. this was a great poem

Larry: Job suffered more than most of us ever will. The story of Job is the ultimate test of faith and you’ve penned it well.

Dear Larry, I think God gave us the story of Job to give us hope when we are suffering a great loss. If we hang in there God will still be with us even though much is gone. Well done. Joyce
