Bare Feet
By: Noah Eaton
6/22/02

She was not a stranger to oppression
Rather much compulsive and thought of self-destruction
Her husband sent him back to her father amidst her misunderstanding
She was seen as some kind of black sheep in her society

She was wealthy but yet she was unhappy
Grew up in the rural village of Magdala on the sea of Galilee
She worked in a local wool-dying industry
Underneath her skin she had something, but she tracked mud with her feet

Then there came a day as she walked the lakeshore
Finding her freedom from all her household chores
"The Kingdom Of God has arrived!" proclaimed the Nazarene
The maimed when touched shall be liberated and come clean

She ran away to the north to be counseled
Along the sapphire baptizing waters of the gulf
Eventually her time came and her chest stiffened
Her muscles ached and her heart quickened
Only to find satisfaction
When she became free and forgiven

Like a jackrabbit she hopped back home like a gazelle
Suppressed of her sanctions, her unconditional hell
Spending her money as charity for the commonwealth
Jesus and His apostles, she became happy and well...

Her name was Mary Magdalene
Every God Samaritans' epitome
Where you see the plum blossoms commiserating
There is always time for forgiving...
Forgiving...

Hours later she again heard the heartbreaking cries
Of only One who had purified
Thunder clouds darker than ebony blanketed the skies ominously
Jesus' body murdered by inconceivable thieves

Mary and two discipled recovered his deceased body
Soaking Him free of the blood spilling
Wrapping his body in lining
Laying him in a respective grave willingly

Her name was Mary Magdalene
Every God Samaritans' epitome
Where you see the plum blossoms commiserating
There is always time for forgiving...
Forgiving...

Sabbath came and went and Mary went to seek some spices
To annoint on His very grave where He resided
She found the grave stone removed by grave criminals
And His body was taken, where suddenly she countered two angels

They said He had risen, at first it wasn't quite convincing
Until she was tapped on the shoulder by a mysterious greeting
It was Jesus, she had seen the Lord living, embracing His feet
Even when her peers were cynical, she knew He'll always be living...
That even with such a history, we'll always be forgiving...

Her name was Mary Magdalene
Every God Samaritans' epitome
Where you see the plum blossoms commiserating
There is always time for forgiving...
Forgiving...
Walk with bare feet...
Walk with bare feet...
Walk with bare feet...

(I wrote this based on the true tale of Mary. I flooded in tears writing this because it touches me so much that we can all be forgiven even when we are not forgiven as long as we seek His audience! I, like Mary, have not had a perfect history, for I was hurt deeply by many when I was a child and contemplated suicide, yet when I first learned of Him and embraced His love, I now feel rejuvenated, and even while I am still so young and naive, I truly believe if we all believe in this, we will all be touched by this happiness like Mary did when she was forgiven!)

Noah:  An eloquent write and a new slant on a familiar story. I'm sorry to hear you have suffered and had to overcome so much. What a blessing that you found Him and hae been saved and rejuvenated.

You did a very nice job of bringing this story to life, Noah. Yes you are on the wonderful side of forgiveness.

I'm wondering, did you mean "God Samaritans?"
I'm thinking if you did, you have a special reason for changing it from Good Samaritans. Was it to slow the reader and cause them to consider why Good Samaritans are such?

Noah,

I think I know what you mean...  Sometimes when I write a poem, the words that come to mind are meant for myself as much or more than they are meant for anyone else.  I too have a special place in my heart for Mary, because I too can understand what it means to be forgiven from so very-very much.  Seems each time I hear a message about Mary Magdalene or the woman at the well or the  woman with the issue of blood, all of whom experienced the Amazing Saving Grace of GOD though they faced different circumstances, my eyes well up with thanks giving.  GOD is sooooooooooo unbelievably, mercifully, continuously GOOD. Amen.  Thank you for sharing this Bible story with a flare that only you my poet friend could add to it's wonderful context.  Oh, one coming day, let us all humble ourselves to walk with "Bare Feet" in the presence of our Lord and KING...  GOD bless you and thank you for sharing with us what GOD has given to you.
