"Peace, be still!"

When Jesus preached beside the sea,
So many people came that He
Embarked aboard a ship so they
Could see Him, while they heard Him say
The Parables, that hold such seed
And satisfy our every need.

Then when the crowd was gone away,
He wished to sail across the bay
And so the sailors quickly leapt
To do His will. Then Jesus slept.
When they were just half way across,
The boat began to pitch and toss.

The wind arose and was so strong,
The crew was frightened and ere long,
They wakened Jesus, asking He
Save them from the angry sea.
He rose and spoke. Said "Peace, be still!"
The elements obeyed His will.

He will preform this same event
Every time our prayers are sent,
Beseeching Him to intervene,
When winds of life are cruel and keen.
He has the strength for any task
And all we need to do, is ask!

Absolute applause Betty! This was very well put together. Love the form, the way you've rhymed it all, but most of all the message it carries!

You've been blessed in your writings!

We are so (unworthy) of all He does for us. Sure do miss your writing.

This was wonderful; I enjoyed reading it very much. Thank you for reminding us to 'ask.' We may not always get what we want, but Jesus gives us what we need.  Hugs, Marti

Trillium,

I do appreciate the power of Jesus' spoken word that is displayed in these verses and in your poem that tells of the authority of Christ.  Reminds me that Jesus was a man of purpose and that not even the tempestuous storms of the sea could keep him from reaching his goal to save a single soul.  From the legions that tormented that hurting man on the other side of the sea and by the same manor that Jesus calmed the raging sea, Jesus delivered that man and he still delivers hurting and tormented souls today by simply stating, "Peace, Be Still."  Thank you my poet friend.  Such a wonderful reminder of the power and grace found in the words of our GOD.

BRAVO!!! Yes, yes, all we must do is ask, for stillness is found within peace and if we harken, He will harken and sympathize with what we need! (big hugggssssssss) This is an excellent piece of advice that we must all hold true, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Betty, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
