My Father

Dad, is that your voice I hear?
It’s been so very long.
I have missed your sweet voice
only dreams, wishes and longing.

Dad; I have been so, so alone
home-sick since I moved away.
Reading your letters over and over
so many, I have worn several out.

Dad; all I treasured, kept of you
memories sharp, loving, bittersweet.
The times we walked long, together
while you taught me of your ways.

Dad, will you accept another prodical
is there a way for you to love me again?
May I come to your house, awakened
to belong, be wanted, be welcomed?

Dad, oh Dad...I have misssed you so
will you hug me, love me once again?
Can I hope, pray for whispered love
am I still yours, Abba my Father?

    ...was once upon, bleeding
        and Tramp Poet for awhile.
Now I'm just little ole me
          wearing nothin but a smile.

Such a sweet poem to our Father. Sadly, most of us don't realize the Daddy part but it's so true. Thank you for the reminder that He longs to be our daddy. That's a comforting thought today. Cheryl

Tramp poet, this is so wonderful. yes He would always take one back to the flock. You wrote a wonderful plea here and I know He will hear you. floria

This is so very beautiful. Hurry! Go kill another fatted calf, I hear God say. Tonight we are going to Celebrate! My child was dead and now is alive. Hurry, fetch my golden sparkling diamond and ruby ring. I need it as a present. My child has come home. I hear God say! Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
Welcome back!

I like this resemblance to your earthly father.  When I was small I pictured God as just a much larger version of my Daddy.  And just as kind.  Joyce

Good stuff...I liked the way it was suttley sweet...(if that is how you spell suttley) It was nice not having to remember what some big word meant as I was reading this.  Simple and serene!
