Trampled on the ground
crushed beneath man's careless feet
The Rose of Sharon
Then resurrected by God
The rose now blooms forever!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Cheryl,

A very nice Tanka format (5-7-5-7-7) and a nice reference to the verse in the Song of Solomon. I like your personification of Christ that you made here through the story of the rose.  -Bob

Cheryl; This is exquisite! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Bob, I glad you liked the tanka. I think the rose does depict Christ's life. Full of beauty, carelessly regarded by man. But thanks to God, our Rose shall never fade or die. Cheryl

Ellie, I'm thrilled you enjoyed since the Japanese format is one of your specialties. Thanks, Cheryl
