Jesus

Mary knelt at his cradle,
Loving this tiny child.
Her face aglow with motherly love,
She gazed at him and smiled.

Did she know that one dark day,
She'd kneel beside His cross?
Her tear streaked face of sorrow,
Her monumental loss.

He was not just a Man.
But Son of the Father above.
He came to save our sins.
And brought us all His love.

And Mary was so blessed,
His holy mother was she.
She brought Him life, and watched His death,
And witnessed His glory.

The sacrifice that was made
In that sorrowful way
Was a holy gift from God
Salvation ours that day.

From tiny Babe to horrid cross
This route He took for all
The only thing we need to do
Is answer to His call.

Amazing how He gave so much,
and asks so little from us.

Thank you for this!

Floria, your poem is superb and lovely to read. It's so very similar to one that I wrote, I was shocked as I read it. A mother's heart reaches out from the screen. Cheryl

Floria:  Such a touching and reverent poem. I have often thought about Mary and what she had to bear.  You have summed it up so well.

Perfect description of the reason for the season, and the purpose of the cross.
So glad I heard his call.

Thank you joyce. One thing that really bothers me is when people write Christmas with an x and leave Christ out..thanks for your reply. floria
