A love letter

You were on the wind but I had turned my back
you were in the sun but I had grown cold.
You were in the waves, but I had evaporated
into little more than morning dew.

You were calling from every church steeple
but I had stopped listening.
You were there in the field of lilies but I had
taken another road.

Well, I have heard your voice and
felt your presence
and knelt at an altar and there, I found
sanctuary and peace.

Please take my hand; we’ll walk through the rest
of my life, together.  I am unafraid to trust
you.  I see in your eyes all beauty and all
goodness, forgiveness and kindness.

I’ve inherited these qualities from you.
I know that I have
for I am your child.

Everything in my heart, everything in my soul
all rhythm of breath you have recorded
tells me you will protect me, honor me, nurture
me and sustain me.

I want you to remain right where you are,
unbending to the wind, constant,
fresh and your voice calling…my name.

I will answer.

And I will stand at the altar to my soul,
with flowers to lay at your feet.
With an openness and outstretched arms.
Unafraid.

For one day I looked a little further skyward,
a little past the Milky Way and beyond constellations
but you know, I really didn’t have to look that far.
For you were always here.

Please don’t ever leave me.

Without you I would
be truly imprisoned.  I only now realize I have always,
always been free.

Thank you for loving me, for not giving up on me,
for not turning your back on me. Thank you for
understanding me but most of all for thank you for my salvation.

I am and always will be your daughter.

Just beautiful!
This seems very familiar. Did you write this? Or maybe get an idea from something you read?

I was really blessed by this poem.  I am so thankful for the promise He gave us in Hebrews 13:5 which says, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."  Beautiful writing.  Wanda
