God reviewed the work that He had done
In just six days and it was good.
But there was no one there to see
The beauty and the magnitude.
He said, "I need to make a man,
In my own image, one who will
Enjoy the wonders I have wrought.
Such beauty cannot help but thrill."

He took some dust and formed it and
Before him the man Adam stood.
He gazed at all the beauty round.
He looked and saw that it was good.
The animals all came in pairs,
And that first man was all alone.
God said, "I'll make a helpmeet too.
This Garden both of them will own."

He took a rib from Adam's side,
And fashioned Eve as big as life.
Adam gazed and said, "This is good,"
As God pronounced them Man and Wife.
As a wedding  gift He gave them,
The lovely Garden free and clear.
They could eat of all the choice fruit,
Except one tree they were to fear.

They were a disobedient pair,
And hadn't learned of gratitude.
They tasted the forbidden fruit,
Then ate some more for it was good.
They tried to hide their sin from God.
Not having obeyed as they should.
God drove them out into the world.
They looked and saw, it wasn't good.

And that is how sin came to be.
It started with that wicked pair.
Are we so sure that we might not
Have tasted too, had we been there?
They left the Garden and they lost
The fellowship they had with God.
It is the same unto this day,
We choose the path that Adam trod.

But God has given us a chance
To save us ere the judgement day.
He sent his beloved son to die
And bring us from our sinful way.
Much greater than the Garden fair.
Our gift of life, if we believe.
Just call upon dear Jesus'name.
And God's forgiveness we'll receive.

The Garden still awaits us there,
If we are living as we should.
When welcomed to that Holy Place,
We'll look and know that it is good.

Joyce; I really appreciate what you have written about the creation of man and the first sin.  In checking Gen. 1:26-31 and especially Verse 31, I believe man was created on the 6th. day of creation.  On the 7th. day God rested.  I really enjoyed the flow of the poem. Thank you for sharing that.  Wanda

Glad you posted this, we are hearing the same voice I truly believe. Really like the last verse..

The Garden still awaits us there,
If we are living as we should.
When welcomed to that Holy Place,
We'll look and know that it is good.

Looking forward to being in that place, where we have no need of sun.

I believe it's quite definite that each and every one of us would have responded just as Adam and Eve had done, for God wanted us to choose Him, yet He knew, even as He created us that we would need His help. Our humaness, its weakness, would need the help of His Son, the 2nd Adam. He knew He would have to endure the flesh to truly know how weakness feels. He knew we would have to come to Him through His Son in order to know Him.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
