CHILD OF GOD In the garden, were you sleeping While your Lord and Savior bled? When they asked if you were with him, Did you only shake your head? Or has denial touched your lips, To but further the shame? For as He hung there on the cross, I swore He spoke your name. Child of God, Jesus died that night, Just so that you could live. Inside I know you've seen His light, But why can't you forgive? I know not how to speak to you, That you may know I care. And I know not your heart, that's true, But I know Jesus was there. You lifted me while I was down, Till I recalled His face. We sang in love and joy renown, In Him, knowing our place. Is this forgotten to you now? Has all come to an end? Come back, dear child, you know how, And He is still your friend. Michael Anderson |

you know every single poem of yours that i've read has impacted me deeply - you have such an anointing over your poetry - i think i might steal Majestic's idea and do the same at my church - the last two lines especially got me. Isn't it amazing how forgiving Jesus really is - if we did what we did to Jesus to any other friend, we'd have no chance of still being friends with them...but the power of the cross overrides anything... powerful poem Michael. |

Michael, so many skillful and sad poems you do write. ![]() I don't know why but it hurt inside to be reading this. It touched my heart. Sometimes I am not sure I even know how to lift myself sometimes but... surely if I keep looking to God, maybe that will lift my countenance? Thanks for the read, Michael. |

Awesome!! Amazing how personalizing these lessons gives them a whole new meaning. It's ironic how often the one who lifted us later needs us to lift them. Thanks so much. |

Thank you all for the kind words. As always, I just hope my work touches someone where they really need it and reminds them where we should all be focused. sweetcollege_girl, of course, you may print this and post it anywhere you like. Artur, I don't think I could ever lift myself up on my own, though, just keeping eyes on the Lord allows Him to do all the lifting. a sandgrain, Indeed, it can be ironic but that's definately one reason I am thankful for this forum. I do believe we are supposed to help keep each other focused and strengthen each other as God's children. (And yes, this was written on a personal level - but duly apllies to many I'm sure). ![]() Michael |

Gee, you must be pretty special to get your work published in not one but several church bulletins! BRAVO, on yet another poem from the heart! Kelly I love the male body, it's better designed than the male mind.---Andrea Newman |

Michael, One of the reasons I am looking forward to meeting you is that I want to see the man that houses such a deep well of wisdom and spiritual understanding. I am also looking forward to being able to discuss and exchange more of these inner-beliefs. I think it will be very refreshing for all of us. See you on the boat...11 days to go.
