If Tears Were Flowers

If the tears we've cried were flowers,
What a wonderful bouquet!
Kept alive by faithful love
So that it won't fade away.
A monument to rescuers
And the lives come to an end.
A tower made of flowers
And a message it would send
To the men who have attacked us
And whoever they may be,
Today, we're laying flowers.
But you someday soon will see
Tall towers in the sky once more,
Such a wonder to behold.
Through all future generations,
This heroic story told.
If tears we've cried were flowers,
Then eventually we need
To withhold at last our teardrops
So that they can go to seed.
Then every year replant them
In the form of memories,
For the legends of our nation,
Are derived from deeds like these!

Amen Trillium ~ What a tenderly powerful piece, I'd gladly add my blossoms to that tower!  Bonnie

Thanks Bonnie.  I suspect if all the flowers that have been placed on memorials to this tragedy, were piled, it would be an awe inspiring amount.

sunshinemist:  I love flowers too and here where I live, they aren't going to be around much longer. It's getting below freezing at night.  I see you are in Florida, so enjoy your flowers for me!
