I keep my lamps filled with oil, and ready to light.
My Lord will come without warning.
It may be in daytime, it may be at night.
It might be the first thing in the morning.

There'll be no time to dally, not a minute to spare.
I keep everything handy and ready to go.
I have my bag packed and a heart full of prayer,
The day or the year I'm not privileged to know.

For some he comes early, for some he comes late.
The Lord has His own reasons for choosing.
No man's so important he knows his own date.
When called there will be no refusing.

Dear Lord, I'll be ready whenever You call,
At sometime known only to You.
Spring, summer or winter or even in fall,
I've my ticket to heaven, when my time is due.

be ever ready is His command
for He will come as a thief in the night
to claim His bride--the church

Joyce: Good poem!  It must be very peaceful to have reached a point where you feel ready to go when He calls you.
