Why do the summers of my youth,
In memory seem unending?
The days were warm, lovely and long.
No sorrows needed mending.

The world created just for me,
I reveled in its pleasure,
As contented as a child could be,
Each day a special treasure.

We had two weeks of Bible school.
We sang our songs of love.
We learned that God was listneing
With dear Jesus up above.

God was as real as Mom and Dad,
I never had cause to doubt him.
Hearing of Him at Mother's side,
I've never been without Him.

I wish that time could just stand still,
As it did so long ago.
When only good things happened
In that life I used to know.

Joyce:  The days did seem longer and the summers endless, when I was a child too. Guess it was because there were not too many responsibilities and lots of free time to do as we pleased.  Really nice poem.

Ah yes, the age of innocence and no worries.
I remember those days.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane when everything seemed so simple.

I remember telling my mother what a beautiful childhood I had, and she answered, "You did?" ( remembering all the hardships of those days) I do recall those long summer days. This poem brings back memories

When I look back I fondly recall the good. It's so much easier.. and file the bad away somewhere else. But the time seems to move so much faster now, thought the agenda is just as long. A great fear is not so much regret for that which I have done... but regret for something that I did not do. Thank you for the read.. it hits home.. really close.
