Our pastor gave us this message,
Today in his Sunday sermon.
We must use the Holy Roadmap
Our direction to determine.

When Jesus visited their home
Hospitality was Martha's aim.
Proudly she set a fine table
And bade Mary to do the same.

When Martha complained to Jesus,
He didn't scold nor did he chide.
He very gently informed her,
She had service confused with pride.

When God came to earth as Jesus,
He didn't have much time to stay.
It was important for the world
To hear all that he had to say.

Mary's humility pleased Him
With her listening at his feet.
Her sister needed to join her.
His words were more urgent than meat.

We serve our Lord in our own way
But that which pleases him the most
Is how often we read His word
And not our greatness as a host.

We should all be more like Mary
And upon each and every day,
We must search our Holy Bible
For what Jesus was heard to say.

None of us were there with Mary
As she listened to His own word,
But by reading of our Bible
We will hear the stories she heard.

In the Bible is the roadmap
That will guide us on our highway.
If we follow its directions,
We can never go far astray.

Joyce:  I always loved this part of Bible teachings and it reminded me of Sunday dinners when I was small.  My grandmother sat and read the Bible while my mother bustled and fretted. It was a perfect example for me. Well done!

I love how you related Bible reading to the story of Mary and Martha in the Bible... I had never read it in modern day terms like you presented it and what you have written is very true... reading the Word is like hearing the Word directly from Jesus.  This is a wonderful analogy.  Bob <><
