The impact
Of light
Blinding but painless
Like coming out of a
train wreck
surprisingly unscathed
The warmth and comfort
First afraid and then
breathless
From finally being able
to breath
Like diving into what you
think
will be an icy cold river
And then remarkably
realizing the bathlike quality
The peacefulness of burdens
Gone, lifted, disintegrated
Feeling lighter than air itself
Like floating high
as feathers, as a child's laughter
As bubbles blown to the wind
The opalescent colors
Shift and move
And you see your image change
And become sweeter, more appealing
The image you now, can accept
Because you see yourself in all
Its human foolishness
Your heart laughs its first real
adult laugh
Because you've just had
A spiritual awakening
You just took that step
Required to believe
You asked with your heart and he answered
With his

Oh, Regina; I've missed you! I can't begin to tell you how this incredible poem has been just what I needed to hear today! My life and the world as I knew it has been turned upside down, a crisis of overwhelming proportions, and your poem has strenthened me. My daughter and i are about to be on our own and I need that water to be warm and comforting, not as I expected it at all! Love, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
