I sit here and ponder
How we could complain
Our problems seem small
Against others real pain

You've had a bad day
Or so it's you thought
Til' you hear others problems
And how much they're distraught

You have no idea
Just how good life can be
So count your small blessings
Pray upon bended knee

Be thankful for life
And all that you're given
What God's done for us
and the life that were livin'

Some days we grumble and moan only to realize it hasn't amounted
to a hill of beans compared to what others go through. We really
don't have it as bad as we think. Stop and count your blessings.

This poem is so true, I used to always think I had it bad, i was so ignorant.  If i twisted the words of what the bible says, Instead of the guy not noticing the plank in his eye, and noticing the speck in the other guy, I'm the other guy who only notices the speck in my eye, and not the plank in others.  Although that is really twisting the Bible around, but I hope you can understand that.

This is a great reminder for me today.   I've been guilty of grumbling - but I'll put the grumbles on hold and busy myself with my blessings.   Good job!

Thank you Joyce!

Scout, I think I understand what you're saying. There is "saying" that we judge ourselves the harshest, but I really don't think so sometimes. I think we see the "problems" or "sins" others have, but tend not too look at our own.

But when it comes to problems, our own seem like mountains, but when we look at others troubles, our really don't seem quite that big.

Illusion, I've been guilty of the same! That's what brought the poem about.
I have a dear friend who's struggled and is struggling with some very severe things.
And after talking with this person, it really made me stop and think about what I was complaining about. It made me change my mind in a hurry. My problems were piddly compared to theirs. I had no reason at all to be complaining. I'm thankful I'm healthy, I have 3 beautiful childen, a good job, food to eat, eyesight...and so much more. I can take a walk, enjoy the outdoors. So many things we take for granted, that are truly a blessing when brought to our attention.

  Thanks all!

White Dove,

When we are vistited by Missionaries from 3rd world countries, their testimonies and photographs are usually a real good reality check for me.  I do thank God for the life that He has given me and I do thank you for the reminder that I don't really have it that bad.   Bob <><

Yes Betty, it's sad though. We have to look at other people's misfortunes to realize just how good we have it.

Bob even seeing them on tv is enough to give us a reality check. It's sad, it truly is.
Thank you Bob!

Lone Wolf we do. Sometimes we just need a reminder to see it.

anonymous albert ? I do know what you're talking about. I've been there many times.
Many times it's been very difficult to see my blessings. Or I could see them, I could count them, I just wasn't very happy about them. I really don't know how to put that one except to say it's depression. You knew you should be happy for them, but you just weren't.  And it's always very heartbreaking to see others suffer, especially those little children.  Thank you, and God bless.

2dalimit you're welcome, and thank you as well.
