Darkness that's how it begins we gather huddled, lost waiting for the light Flame pierces the dark night offering us warmth and light blessed and shared by us Follow light shows us the way the way that leads to our peace the way of the Lord Exalt sing Heaven's choirs He has vanquished death and sin dying for us all Word our story of life from dark beginnings to death and then to new life Litany calling on the Saints God's holy men and women to pray for us all Water the water of life journey from death to new life quench this thist for thee Baptism spirit of new life fill the hearts of those who come guide them home to you Confirmation profession of faith made to the Church united we now stand with you Redemption redeemed by water the Cross that saves from sin made now by our hands Oil the Oil of Chrism seals by the Holy Spirit the gift of our faith Body and Blood transformed by the Word we share His body and blood nourishing our soul Light journey now complete the stone is now rolled away we share the good news ------------------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Sven; You have penned a magnificent work of art and told the story of salvation in a unique and powerful way to inspire us all! Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

I really liked the progression and joinder and the way you highlighted the theme of each stanza. Your witness of faith is very encouraging to the reader. Thank you. |

Thank you for your wonderful responses. . . vigil. . . is a poetic response/meditation on the Easter Vigil service. . . In the Catholic Church, Easter Vigil ranks as one of the most important days and rituals of the Church. . . during Easter Vigil, we recall where we have come from, where we are going, and welcome new people along the way. . . The different verses represent the different sections of the service. . .from the total darkness that the church begins in, to the welcoming of new members of the Church (called Catechumens) and the renewal of our faith and baptism through fire, water, and the body and blood of Christ. . . ------------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Sven, Not a criticisim in any way.... Perhaps just me, but to me you have written each stanza in such perfect (5-7-5) form describing each term so well that I could have easily gotten lost in your artistry and neglected to acknowlege the significance of the "vigil" event itself... I took a deep breath of WOW and had to go back and re-read. I suppose an element very similar to the "Communion Service." Anyway, I found the journey from darkness to His most glorious "Resurrection" light very stimmulating... and to reminisce on the sacrifices that were made for us to welcome us in to the Kingdom of God is such awe inspiring in the least. Wonderful spiritually poetic expression. Bob <>< |
