Close Your Eyes And Listen

If you close your eyes and listen carefully
you will hear the drum of the Ahwahneechee
for their Native soul soars with the Golden Bird
whose majestic wing span in silence is heard.

Open your heart and perhaps you will hear
the faintest intrusion of the Mule Tail deer,
if not warned by the shriek of the Steller Jay,
she'll timidly acknowledge and then run away.

Follow John Muir down the newly beat path
to behold in their grandeur glacier's aftermath.
Magnificent structures like granite displays
reaching toward Heaven with infinite praise.

Stand before Bridalveil Falls and reminisce
and know for a fact by God you are kissed.
Hear the coyotes as they yodel at night
fooled by reflection of Mirror Lake's moon light.

If you close your eyes and listen carefully
you will know in your heart... "Yosemite!"

LOL @ you Bob! (it's supposed to be explaining it to the blind)   LOL

It's a beautiful picture, and you've described it really well. The birds in flight and all of it was a treasure!

Thanks for letting me know to check back, I'm glad I didn't miss this, and I thank God I can see it!

Bob;  Wonderful description of Yosemite. I could see images of the park as I read your poem.

Bob,

The picture is stunning in itself, but combined with your words it is a masterpiece.  I can see it all right here before me.  The splendor and beauty of God's work is fabulous.  Thank you for sharing this.
