The warm sun streams through the trees Shedding light upon the wooded pines The aroma of freshness fills your nostrils As the sun glints off the sparkling lake. The old green pier, paint peeling Where I've sat watching the water ripple And the little bugs that skim the surface Zipping this way and that and round in circles Walking down the sandy, rocky road To sit quietly in the sand pit and watch Waiting for those loveable deer To come sprinting by with their young With their sandy coats and white paint splotches As their ears are perked, concentrating Waiting to see if they're in danger Then munch upon the cool grass Vibrant reds, yellows and purples Strewn across the plush greenery With the tangles of berry bushes That became a feast to the animals The mucky bottom of the lake The coolness of the water That chilled you momentarily As you took a dive from the pier The old boat silently riding As the wooden oars stirred the water Crossing half the lake to the island To lazily walk the trodden paths The sunsets beauty As it painted itself across the sky With deep pinks, purples and orange The days end mirrored in the lake Showing off Nature's Majesty Here's the challenge for those who are interested. Oh, Becky, this is magnificent! Pure and perfect poetry! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

Wonderful picture you've painted with your poem. I've seen nights like this at the lake. They have a certain magic in them. Betty Lou Hebert |

White Dove, Probably just me, but sitting here in over 100 degree weather made me think of that cool, rippling water. I could feel myself just sitting there on that sand bank with my toes oozing through the mucky bottom or my just taking dive off that pier straight into thet cool lake. Wonderful imagery here... a little bit torturous, but wonderful. Good job and this was a fun challenge. Bob <>< |
