Mama Use To Hold Me UpMama use to hold me up and Mama use to pray. She rocked me on her knee and Mama use to say, "Boy, your getting older and getting stronger every day. Soon, you'll be walking on your own and you'll want to go out and play. Soon, you'll be a man and you'll go your own way..." Mama use to hold me up and Mama use to pray. I recall the first time I came back to Mama's side. How I knelt at her alter and I prayed and cried. How I asked God to forgive me for everything I'd done. How His Love it surrounded me and I spoke with a brand new tongue. Oh, how I rejoiced and praised God on that day... Mama use to hold me up and Mama use to pray. Did you know that the church is the Mother of us all? And we'll be together when we hear the trumpet's call? And we'll all be in Heaven in a twinkling of an eye? And we'll all be singing praises in our mansions in the sky? But what about those who are left here to die... But, she's gone on, Mama is gone away. Yes, she's gone on, Wish she was here to stay.
