I typed this poem on an old manual typewriter before the birth of my first child. He is 23 years old now and in the Navy. I hear from him about every two years. I trust in God that he is doing fine.... Soon They'll Be Gone One day we will awake and find ourselves smiling as we open the old wooden crib filled with rattles, dolls, torn books, and memories. We will stand close as we remember the cry that once lived there and we will cry tears of happiness when we realize our child has grown up. One day we will answer our door and there they'll stand alone, together, and in love. We'll remember past Christmases and Birthdays because, we won't realize the time only the question and only the reality that they'll soon be gone. |

I understand your feelings. They never get to old to love. Joyce |

Tho' I don't have any children, Bob, I still know the feeling--because at 51, I think the same thing in regard to my life- how swiftly it has passed and how soon it will be over--Kind of gives us pause to think about what it's all about- be thankful for what we have experienced- and be mindful of where we are headed. Thanks for reviving & sharing this one, David No Better Place do I know Than where Hearts knit as one, For in that grand experience, The Better ALL become. God Bless us All!!! Dear Bob: It's always painful when our children leave home. I'm sorry you don't hear from your son oftener. I know how much that hurts. Our oldest son, has not kept in touch with us either. We haven't even known where he is for the past 15 years! No idea why! At least we have lots of good memories of his time with us. Betty Lou Hebert |

A reminder of just how quick it all goes by. Though mine are not grown and gone. But they are growing very quickly, and time passes swiftly, and soon they will be gone too. God's blessings Bob! |

How quickly the friuts of our love grow, ripen and brach away from us; howe wonderful it is when upon their return we discern parts of ourself in them and the voice within says, "job well done." Grace. "I am not now that which I have been." |
