I remember when Easter was:

Colored eggs and pretty dresses,
Chocolate bunnies, curled tresses.

Now I know that Easter came from:

Heavy cross and cruel nail gashes,
False imprisonment, forty lashes.

Now I'm glad for the Easter Message:

Christ is alive, He lives, He lives.
Christ loves us and He lovingly forgives!!!

Very well put.  It's a long way from childish things to mature childlike faith.  God bless you.  Happy Easter!

Joyce,

I so enjoy the chocolate bunnies......

much easier to swallow than those 40 lashes.

I suppose the real meditation is not supposed to be on our new clothes that we'll get around this time, but on our promise for New Life.  (Thanks for helping me refocus.)

I too am very thankful for all the season brings our way.

Joyce this really tells it like it is! I can relate. I remember a time when bunnies and baskets where all I knew. I knew that Jesus died on the cross, but did not know him personally. Big difference.
I am so thankful that I know him, instead of knowing OF him.
Great poem dear lady!
Have a blessed Easter,
Deb

This reminded me so much of that passage, paraphrasing here, when I was a child, I spoke like a child... Good job.

"I am not now that which I have been."
