The greatest star we've ever known,
Upon a lowly stable shown
and there a mother held her Child,
then lay Him on the sweet hay piled
for animals who shared this space
and gazed upon the Savior's face.

A glorious light, then grew and fanned,
Illuminating pasture land,
where shepherds and their sheep arose
to travel where the Babe's repose
was broken by the muffled sound
of men and angels, all around.

A peaceful and adoring scene.
How wonderful it must have been!
But then, three score plus, years beyond,
the scene had changed.  Disaster yawned
for He who came to save mankind.
A story hard to read I find.

I sense the pain that Mary felt
when there, before his cross she knelt
and I can also glimpse the joy
when He arose!  From little Boy
she watched Him grow into the Lord,
to bring us all God's Holy Word!

Your imagery painted the scene beautifully, Betty.  God bless you,  Rae

Dear Betty,  This is truly wonderful.  I especially like the view from his mother.  He was her Boy and her Lord.  Love, Joyce

Wonderfully done Betty! I couldn't imagine having a child I knew was not only my son, but my Lord as well.  It's an awesome thing to ponder on.

Thank you WhtDove.  We really can't know what Mary felt, can we?
