Spring

Small snow patches under trees
Trenches formed from dripping eaves
Tender lily sprouts peek out
To sun themselves. It’s spring, no doubt.

The wind still holds a frosty chill
Darkness comes quite early still
Hearts fill with anticipation
In renewal of creation

Coats worn in the morning’s cool
Are forgotten after school.
Bikes and jump ropes on the walk
Neighbors, o’er back fences talk

Mating birds, God’s praises sing
As nests are built with mud and string
Daffodils push up through earth
Each creation shows great worth

Dreams turn to long summer hours
Beaches and vast fields of flowers
Thorns will grow and bees will sting
But God renews my faith each spring.

Yes, Joyce, it kind of musters up latent energies of all kinds this time of year. Thanks for reading and commenting.

ellie, I just knew you'd love this time of year, 'cause you have a heart of appreciation, and could find some beauty in every season, or circumstance.

Trillium, thanks for reading and commenting so kindly. The first snow is so refreshing, but so is the first sprout of spring.
God bless,

Rae

Bob, Thanks for reading and commenting. Perhaps we all need to be shaken out of winters dulldrums. I find YOUR poetry very uplifting and inspiring, so feel extremely complimented that something I wrote uplifted you. God bless, Rae

Sandgrain,

I walked out into my back yard just the other day and the vividness of spring just hit me. Wow. Everything was so serene, yet alive! The colors were magnificent, the beauty overwhelming and comforting. Spring more than any season reminds me of the Lord our God since he is a God of ressurrection and new life.

I was thinking how I wanted to write a spring-time poem to honor the season, but you beat me to it! LOL. I may still do so. Anyway, I really liked this.

Stephen.
