The first two were written before the sermon and the third during the sermon. I added quite a bit to the 2nd one after arriving home.

That God-shaped Space
Virginia Salter

there’s within
all in creation
a God-shaped space
waiting to be filled

a place of want
a place of needing
a vacuum abiding
for God-love spilled

poured out, pressed down
jamb-packed with caring
immeasurable to
a gleaner’s knowing

love to empower
provide clear seeing
with eyes drenched deep in
His wondrous glowing

Clarify My Life, O Lord
Virginia Salter

clarify my life, O Lord
verify just who I be
make some sense of my vision
illuminate this face I see

reflections seem
so two-dimensional
when gazing in my mirror
more deeply is my need
of understanding
reveal this creature standing here

bare my soul
if it need be
to know this one you chose to bless
help me tithe a bit of living
that I may share your sweet caress

if it be words
that you would lay
upon my heart, upon my ears
help me know just how to live them
erasing pain and drying tears

His Perfect Loving
Virginia Salter

He gave His teaching
He gave His promise
His hands blessed with miracles
Love indwelt His very being
yet those who followed
stumbled often
for weakness kept its fingerhold

then at that hour
He ceded arms
allowing pain and stripes
endure
that by His love
His perfect loving
we’d come back,
through Him,
to pure

I'm not very satisfied with the 3rd piece yet. Ideas?

I really enjoyed these. I'm not knowledgable enough to teach anything about poetry, but the last word, "pure," I'd rather see "redeemed" or something to the effect of, made righteous.
Thanks for sharing them.

Virginia, these are each a beautiful gem of praise to our God, so inspiring. Thank you! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

These are lovely and short and sweet. I'm sure you could have been doing less gainful things during the sermon. Love Joyce

Well, Joyce, two of the poems were inspired by events and devotionals before the sermon and the last one presented here was written during the sermon titled: On a Hill Far Away. So, hehehe, I was listening to the service and taking these poems away with me. I write every Sunday and send copies to the pastor or whomever delivers the message that day. So, yes I could be doing less gainful things. Thanks for reading and your sweet comment.

How wonderful to be so inspired while attending church and sharing your messages with others. It's a sermon unto itself!

Nice job, on all three of these!
