We spend our Lives as money
For Power, we've been giv'n,
But do we get our "money's worth"?
Do we invest ourselves for heav'n?

Or do we accept the worthless trinkets
Of the world, which sparkle and shine,
But in the end mean nothing
But the doom of our own decline?

Each morning our Life Cash Drawer's filled
Each night-it is closed for aye,
No time can we borrow or hoard
That unused, will just vanish away!

Choose wisely what you barter
Your God-given hours and days,
Lest you should end up with nothing
To return for the Master's Praise!

We spend our lives like money
So it just makes good "cents,"
To Spend it in the Lord's Will--
And be Blessed right now and hence!

No Better Place do I know
Than where Hearts knit as
one,
For in that grand
experience,
The Better ALL become.

God Bless us All!!!

David; "A penny for your thoughts"and yet the wisdom you impart here is priceless! Love, Sis

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

You know this really brings to my mind Jesus' parable about the talents.  One was given ten, one five, and another one.  The man who was given one buried his and had nothing to give the master upon his return except the one "hoarded" talent.  The other two traded with their talents and were praised by the master.  A life of faith must make good use of time/ life/ opportunities- or it may not prove to be a life of faith after all.

"Choose wisely what you barter
Your God-given hours and days,
Lest you should end up with nothing
To return for the Master's Praise!"

Another thing I saw in your poem was that God wants us to begin with what we have.  That's why in another similar parable the master said "you have been faithful with a little, you will be rewarded with much."  The word "cents" metaphorically could mean the everyday actions we do.  We don't think they add up, but they do.  Sometimes we want to try to serve God in the "big" things, while we are missing the small things that may eventually add up if we are faithful.

"We spend our lives like money
So it just makes good "cents,"
To Spend it in the Lord's Will--
And be Blessed right now and hence!"

Great poem!
enjoyed this.

David,

You have provided us with a Christian alternative to the familiar saying of time is money... but to us, it holds a much greater blessing than just that.  Each moment lived is a blessing, be it physical or spiritual, to be found in Him...  Love,  Bob <><
