So many years
I clung,
to everything.

Other people,
hoping they
could fill
the void.

Places and things,
all
only satisfy,
for a short while.

The emptiness returns,
or,
disappointment becomes
a constant companion.

I feel a new
freedom,
deep
within my soul.

Grace has set
new boundaries.

nothing is allowed
past!

For You, my Lord,
my Jesus,
are a jealous Lover.
You will not allow
anything
to come between us.

For I am Yours,
and You are mine.

Belief is a truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart.

Ellie I remember years ago feeling this way, when one day this very poem dawned on me. I looked to people to make me happy, to fill the 'void.'

That's why I say God must have put in a woman's heart to search for that love that we all look for. Only it's not found in humans, but above, with God.

This brought back some special memories for me.    Thanks!

I know the feeling well. So true the way things get in our way.
I thank God for his mercy and grace.
Great poem!

Believe me...I know this feeling well.  I have searched in so many wrong places that the only reason I remember them is to remind me of where I should always look in the first place.  Excellent write and so wonderful a feeling I get from reading this as I realize that I am not alone in the weakness of us humans.

Your whole poem was beautifully written, but what spoke to my heart the most was:
nothing is allowed
past

This is something that many of us have problems overcoming....   our past.  I need to continually place my "past" under the Blood of Jesus Christ.  Thank you for your words of wisdow,  Love ya, Bob <><

How could you have read my own soul so well ? I have known Christ for only a few years now, sadly. health has kept me from church, and I search for that same love and comfort, that only He can give,I have felt every word you penned here, and you really touched my heart with this one, I am so happy that I Was able to read this,You and your heart are blessed,

I was very moved by this. I, like so many others have a past that I am not proud of, and it took me a very long time to realize that I could forgive myself just like my wonderful Lord Jesus did. Thank God He is real and quick to forgive .

Blessings,
Jan Duncan

Ellie,
What a tender profession of love and surrender in the one that taught us lasting LOVE. Well Done!

Ellie, Once in a while you outdo yourself, and this is one of those poems. A message that will long be remembered by your words.
This is exquisite in thought.

This is truely amazing.  You have spoken so much truth in such simplicity.  Thank you, I needed to hear this.  I love it!
