This week the ice storm came our way,
The ice itself did not stay--
But left it's reminders everywhere!
Bent and broken trees all around,
Power lines brought to the ground
Our easy, normal lives swept away!

It was a time of introspection,
Brought to our knees, not by our selection--
Like the trees-brought low by a higher power.
It gave a chance for detection,
Is our life about Divine Election
Or marred from purpose, by imperfection?

What irony the crystal beauty,
Most damaging to so many a tree,
The one's most limber, bent unbroken.
But the stout and unyielding did see
Appendages down, even whole trees
Vanquished by heaven-sent victory.

It also made us question what Power,
We most rely on, each day-each hour,
The lesser Power to darkness brought down.
Plunged into darkness, we sought the light,
For once we sought things to be made right
Hoping for what once we knew, could be ours!

Is God trying to teach us a lesson,
Meant to bring us to a state of confession,
That to His higher Power we might yield?
Lest we too, into darkness be cast, A
A darkness that forever will last--
(This was only a dry run, and a test!)

LORD, heklp me to yield to Thee,
The Broken & Undone, let me not be,
May You be my true Power Source.
Help me e'er to be walking in Thy Light,
Seeking to escape sin's darkness of night
That humbly, e'er Your Blessings I'll see.

David; You have a profound spiritual gift for seeing the lessons in all that surrounds you, and your gift of poetry so beautifully expresses what God is teaching you and then blessing others too. Thank you...Ellie

David,

Wonderful reflections my friend.  Nature sure is powerful at times!!

Yes, He is the light, the only one we need, thank you for a wonderful reminder of that!

Funny that an ice storm can be so beautiful and so dangerous too. Wonderful poem
