A cold November morning,
A blanket of white on the ground,
A winter wind is blowing,
Snowflakes are drifting around.
The sky is a brilliant, blinding blue,
Trees barren except for the fluff,
A squirrel is gathering acorns,
Seems he'll never get quite enough.
A cardinal sits on a pine bough,
Watching his mate flying away,
A bluejay skates on the icy bath,
Wondering why he decided stay.
On the hill across the valley,
The church can barely be seen,
As the cross atop the steeple,
Glistens a wintry sheen.
A cold November morning,
You have painted this pristine day,
Filling my eyes with wonder,
And my heart, with a warmth that will stay.

Dear Bonnie; No snow here yet, but it won't be long. I swear your pen has photographic film in it, because every poem you write is such a clear enchanting picture. This poem is so lovely. Love, Ellie

Thanks for the memories. I enjoyed your pleasant picture of winter although I think I will stay south with all the fair weather birds!!

Bonnie you've painted a beautiful winter picture! It's snowed a bit, but just the small stuff, and it didn't stay around.
From your words it brings back the beauty of the purity of the blanket of white that covers the earth.

Breathtaking, (cause I'm thinking of the cold too.) hehe

Thank you for this one.
I have been living in Florida for a 3 1/2 yrs now and this Autumn is the worst. I am really missing the change of seasons, and even more, Winter. I am originally from Maryland.
This allowed me to experience a bit of my favorite season, if not in person, then at least in mind.

With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free..
