Desert Weed Planted in desert sand as a meek and lowly seed rooted in tumult soil, none knew that God would lead a sprouting stalk so humble to make desolation heed. Not with piercing thorn nor bramble, but in the light of a bruised reed grew an orchid incognito disguised as an ugly weed. Alone in wind swept land as the weed hung drooping head submerged in climate's toil, none knew that God had said a stone who's causing stumble would resurrect from the dead. Not with urgent crawl nor scramble, but in Spirit by whom was led an ugly weed to bloom an orchid from a desert flower bed. -Robert E. Michaud Jr.- |

Very very nice Lighthousebob! My kind of poetry--enjoyed it very much. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |

This is very good! I was a pain in a lot of Kansans' sides when I first came here and commented on the beauty of those "tall purple flowers" and "small white flowers that look like miniature morning glories" ... if you've ever been through here, you know I'm talking about noxious muskthistle and bindweed! Now, I'm off to find an orchid in a weed... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

Bob, Your poem here is very pictureque and strriking. It rather reminds me of the prophetic description of the Christ as the suffering servant, as found in Isa. 53. as without form or comeliness a root out of dry ground- (v.2). Yet as the ending of that grewat passage predicts he in his faithfulness becomes that altogether lovely redeemer ,sin-bearer,and divine interecssor. __Lovely poem-lovely thoughts,Bob Thank you, David "GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." Bob; what a wondeful poem. God's wonders never cease. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

Rex, Being a novice writer, I am honored that you enjoyed my poem very much... Thank you. Sunshine, No... I have never been to Kansas, but thank you for humoring me...those muskthistles and bindweeds sound beautiful in bloom. deleeme, You amaze me!!! How you picked the exact scripture that inspired me to write this poem... I love that scripture and I was reading it while I wrote. You got the real meaning of my poem... (Isiah 53:1-5) elle LeJeune, Yes, we serve a wonder working Creator. Thank you, Bob <>< |

Thank you for sharing this beauty. Even the noxous weeds have beauty if we look close enough. Jesus was unrecognized then and it seems sadly, yet today. |

Bob isn't it incredible how God takes the things that seems like nothing and turns them inot things of beauty. Like us for instance. The poem says it all. Loved it. Take care, Juls |

BSC, Thank you for your agreeing that those "weeds" are lovable. Sometimes we can only see the outside and not see the "orchid" (Risen Christ) living in those we come in contact. a sandgrain, What a lovely name... Sad, but true we do not always recognize Jesus in the obscure, but He does reside in the simple things... Like a grain of sand. Lovely name. WhtDove, I am pleased that you found meaning and versatility in this writing... I am honored by your positive observation. Lynne Dale, I am glad to have widened your perception a bit and Welcome to Passions. chaplainscott, I am so happy that He has chosen to dwell in lowly earthen vessels such as myself.... Thank you for your most reverent comments and also Welcome. L Tiuch, I accept that echo and receive it as a double portion... Thank you. Juliet_2U, You have made a very notable point, and yes it is incredible for certain. Bob <>< |
