DRIFTWOOD: From an ancient time Evolves the art of now Seeming close, or far; sublime Touches deep inside, somehow Driftwood drifts, sea to shore To tell nature's story Once again, as seen before The life, in deathly glory Minutes and years etched alive Wondrously, it traveled far To wash up here, to remind Resounding, as on a guitar: Remember, always, in all your ways The everlasting Ancient of Days. (I wrote this on returning from three days spent between mountains and the shore of one of my country's most beautiful dams. ![]() |

This is beautiful Sylvia. I like how you net the past & present- and life & death, using the figure of the driftwood. Thank you for sharing your vacation reflections--may we see more? David |

sgreybe, what a wonderful introduction into the Spiritual Journey Forum...and it sounds as if your trip was the making of wonderful memories. Hope to see more of your work here, and will be looking in the other forums for this quality as well... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Sylvia; I like your analogy in this poem. Driftwood is always so mysterious, wondering the story it could tell. Lovely poem. Ellie Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. ellie LeJeune |
