I DANCED WITH THE DEVIL

Oh how you fooled me
with roses and sunshine
loving you with all I had
while you were using me all the time

Praising God with me
vowing faithfulness and love
telling me we were soulmates
created by our Father above

You took all I had
till I couldn't give no more
than you just up and left
never again to darken my door

My heart broke my life crumbled
on this terrible day
and I still asked God to protect you
along your troubled pathway

But today a strange phone call
enlightened me to a new level
and thats when I had to relize
I had danced with the devil

In God's name you promised
to me all your love you'd bring
and in my love of Him
I believed everything

I danced with the devil
as he held me close and told me lies
I loved you so much
that I thought that I would die

Every second and every moment
of what we shared to date
was full of lies,deceptions and cruelities
from which I couldn't escape

Oh what a feeling it is
when the truth you finally see
and you have to acknowledge
that the dance with the devil happened to me

Yet I know my Jesus
and the love He has for me
I'll give Him all this sorrow and hurt
for in Him I'll gain victory

God's rightiousness and truth
will cast it's fate upon you
and I will pray to Jesus everyday
to ask that you recieve your due

I know forgiveness I must find
yet an eye for an eye still holds true
and I know the God I serve
will deal with the devil in you

So yes I danced with the devil
paying a price that I must bare
no one to blame but me
for giving so freely what I share

Yet I'll never stop loving
for it's God's plan for my life
to share all that He has given me
in the love of His Son Christ

True, the Devil disguises himself in many ways. This time, Why not kick off your shoes and in the privacy off your own room embrace, dance, and hold near the One who truly loves you. Your Father. I enjoyed your message... I have had a few dances with the Devil myself.

Rose Mary - I liked Bob's response... Dance under the stars with the Lord. There's a poem I posted a while back called "Dancing in Dreams" - You might enjoy that one. Guess we've all been there at one time or another. Wonderful poem. Bonnie

Dear Rose; I too have been deceived and done this dance and you are right that forgiveness is the answer and "revenge is mine, sayeth the Lord". Let God deal with the stinker and you can grow from this experience as you so beautifully are doing.

Hi Rose, Ugh, this is a frightful thing, but your poem so true. When we are out of the Lord's will and away from Jesus, not doing what we should be doing, then I guess we could be dancing with the devil. Good food for thought and beautifully written. Marcy

i understand your points here about human fates in love. cause you never know what you have till something happens good or bad great poem keep it up.

Rose I'm gonna be the ugly duckling on this poem. I firmly believe that we cannot be deceived unless we fail to heed the danger signals JAH sends our way. The children of the MOST HIGH GOD cannot be taken by the evil one unless they choose to be taken(in disobedience to the promptings of the HOLY SPIRIT). Perhaps you need to go over the journey of this relationship and really zero in on those times when GOD must have warned you. HE allows us to be tempted but always provides a way out of the temptation. Perhaps you didn't listen. I'm sorry I had to say this but I hope you take it in love.

What I like best about this piece, Rose Mary, is that it brought many different responses from people all over. This gives us all the opportunity to value and evaluate our lives...how kind of you to bring forth this topic. I am sure it has given everyone food for thought. Thank you!

I have to add in my, WOW I can relate this too!

I think we've all been there. I have to agree with YeshuJah. For the one I danced with had those warning signs and I sure did ignore them. I remember one thing in particular came to mind often. "Beware the flattering tongue!"

It is hard to forgive when you're so hurt. But just due will befall him when God sees fit.
