THE GALL

Mark 15:22-23 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.

I wrote this because I realized that the Gall (myrrh was a form of a narcotic and had a numbing quality) was very significant to show us, that Jesus did not try to find a way of escape.....instead He endured the pain.  He did nothing to numb himself, he was completely sober minded so He could keep His whole being focused on the Father.  I so many times do not truly Trust in God and I run from my pain.

Trying hard to resist......

This temptation to mask the pain
Feels like I just might go insane
Now that this cross is bearing down
And the scars from this thorny crown
Digging deeper into my mind and soul
The agony begins to take it's toll

Experiencing  betrayals sending me into abyss
Felt that one last frigid insincere kiss
The one that lead me to this road
The one that has me feeling so cold
I try to run and hide for fear
My heart feels the  hot iron that seers

I look for escape  in many ways
I take the gall offered to me in hopeful rays
Thinking it will remove this torture I feel
But the numb will not erase what is really real
If I could only endure until it is done
Then true victory would be won

I fail and I give in to the temptation of sin
This time again, the lure of escape did win
To trust in the Fathers ability instead of my own
That is where my battle lies and I am cut to the bone
I know my weakness is now what has beset me
And all I really want is to be truly free

I cannot be  until I wholly give in
Not run and hide and drown in sin
Please Father help me overcome
Without you I am the lonely one
Left in my own shadow of things
I hear laughter of defeat that rings
Rings out to bring me down lower
And I find I sometimes do cower

I see  a picture so clearly of the Son's trust
He did not accept the gall and it's luring lust
Instead he endured the pain for a season
With one goal as His reason
The goal to finally set free
So all might truly see

Once and for all!!!!!

A powerful piece of writing goes deep within the subject of pain, and God's example of his love.

Illusion: I hear you prayer in this beautifully written poem. I've been there and still struggle in other ways, but His timing is perfect. So we'll all keep the prayers going for that total freedom. Ellie

Oh Illusion! This brings tears to my eyes only because I can relate. I've been there and done that. God has shown you the truth here and that brought a big smile across my face when I read the introduction.

We all fall short, we all run and hide, even the disciples did that. Leave it to God, and He shall take over. He can do so much better than we can. For He's been in pain and no one can understand better what we go through than God himself. For He's been through it all, so that He could be a more compassionate God. And compassionate He is!

I thank you for the courage to write this and post it and share with us the struggles of life. God bless you and keep you!

God does have a sense humor. Just take a look at the platypus!
