I have learned of many shepherds.
I have seen them lead the flock.
I have seen them beat the odds,
To be defeated by the clock.
And although they all were different
A pattern they all did keep.
For the greatest of the shepherds
Learned to walk amongst their sheep.

I have learned of many shepherds,
To their sheep they did not tend.
Corrupted by the staff and cloak,
Met by bitter end.
There will always be the wolves,
There will always be weak men,
But the greatest of the shepherds
Never ran from the den.

I have learned of many shepherds
They will always come and go.
There will always be great shepherds
Where the sheep will surely go.
For a world without its shepherds
Holding Firmly to the reigns,
Sees many a lonely sheep,
Wondering lost amongst the plains.

I was born to be a shepherd,
I’ve been told I’m just a sheep.
I have walked amongst the flock,
Over hills so very steep.
Though I may seem just a face,
Blending in amongst the crowd,
The greatest of the shepherds
aren’t the loudest of the loud.

I will walk amongst the flock,
Along the beaten path I keep.
For the greatest of the shepherds,
Learn to walk amongst their sheep.

Yes, Kevin. I agree with the message of the poem. And it is so well told.

Besides this flowing nicely, the message is great! And I definitely agree with your last two lines, cause I do believe the greatest shepherds to walk amongst their sheep! Great job!

Kevin - This is wonderful. I am reminded of,
'And a lamb shall lead them.'

I liked the message in this poem, Kevin.
(Yeah, like that hasn't been mentioned before.) Sorry for being so un-original! :0
True though!
