The three of them climbed into the Mustang Like every other Saturday night Doing shots and chasers at the local bar Protected from the cold October bite Glassy eyed and hammered to the bone That place had become their second home Grew up in houses side by side Formed a bond and never questioned why Raising hell, never had a clue Who they were or what they had to do Fired up that Mustang never looking back Headlights out of nowhere Stopped them in their tracks The music played, the band was number one Thinking back Can't remember what they'd sung Waitress said goodnight Had a feeling from within Trio in that Mustang Won't be coming back again Down the road to a blinding flash Anybodys guess if they ever heard the crash Still the music plays Like they've never gone away Still the music plays On that ninth October day |

Oh gees, I hope this is not a true story....But how painfully hard this hits home....spent my fair share of days doing the same thing, living that life - thank God there were 20+ angels sitting on the hood of my car at the end of every night! Ready to follow me home, for I always made it alive! Although it took a bad accident to stop me in my tracks too....luckily no one was hurt too bad. Sheesh!! Thanks for sharing, makes me glad I'm not young and wreckless anymore!! Not that I'm OLD or anything! ------------------ ~~ Lift your head high - spread your "words" and fly - - poetFemmeFatale |

Yes, very sad indeed. Senseless tragedy. You have expressed it well. Perhaps it will help somebody to think before they drink and drive. ------------------ Denise |

LostBoy - It's certainly a sad reminder of a tragedy that's repeated over and over and over again. If you drink don't drive. If you drive don't drink. pretty well covers it, don't you think ? ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

A tragedy indeed! I had my drinkin days too. Though any amount can be lethal when behind the wheel. I thank God I'm changed. It is dangerous. Thanks for the reminder!!! |
