Someone's Missing
by © Richard J. Budig 1995

Someone's missing
from this gathering.
I'm not sure who
because there are
so many people here...
little ones 'n' mom's and dad's.
'n' Cats ‘n’ dogs from everywhere,
so, it's hard to tell,
but my heart is empty
In a quiet little corner
reserved Just for them.
It's the feeling I get
when someone
I care about
leaves the room.
It's that quiet, soft
little voice
that tells me
someone is missing
from my heart.

How I can relate to this Richard...there is a little empty corner in my own heart today.
I hope yours fills up...a happy holiday to you

My sentiments too. A few empty chairs. Thank you for this lovely, touching piece.

This poem touched me deeply. Very nicely written, too!
