Letting Go

I let you go,
bit by bit,
as you slip through my fingers
falling in words on my paper.

My heart
still echoes your beat
as it once more tries
to find a rhythm of it’s own.

My body,
embedded with memories
of your touch,
remains fingerprinted
with the ink of your desire.

My lips
still taste your kisses
as you breathed life
into my soul.

My eyes close
only to see
every smile, every move
and I let you spill forth
in mirrors of liquid
upon my cheeks
as my mind
curses the photographic images
emblazoned there.

Yes, I’ll let you go,
bit by bit
....but perhaps not tonight.

Hard to do, Hoot? Nigh impossible at times.
Beautiful, and tonight is not a good night to turn lose.

As I said to you when I previewed this piece my friend. You let it go at your own pace. Memories are wonderful and you can always dream. Dreams are what keeps the heart free.

Love you my friend.

Such a beautiful and sad poem.

A heart that's broken
seems as if
you never will
mend the rift,
but your agile heart
and seamstress mind
will fix that tare
it just takes time.

Wouldn't it be grand if falling out of love was as easy as falling in love? *S* Great poem, Hoot!

Yanno hoot...I went to your very fine web page...and the guest book wouldn't let me in?
Now, that's not terribly unusual for me, there's many places right here at home that won't let me in either?.....(I don't know if it was because of the sexually explicit comments I was entering, or that I mentioned that naughty word "Balladeer" or if your guest book just has something against finely wrapped "foot extremities?".....)

BTW...Nice poem nursie!
