You drink and you forget And you cannot even walk. Your eyes are bloodshot red And you slur each time you talk. To me this was so normal; Just like every day. But then me, mom, and Jon Managed to get away. We visited for a while But eventually lost touch; Yet I still sometimes get phone calls That mean so very much. Each call effects me greatly; Sometimes I'll cry for weeks. You try to show you care The purpose, you defeat. Last time you left a message, I remember what you said. It was late and you were drunk And I wished that I was dead. "Tell Jess Happy Birthday I think its the right time... Oh yeah, you want the number? Huh? Oh nevermind." ~Jess~ |

It is so sad what alcohol can do to love and the family connection. This poem is heart sad. |
