PITCHY BLACK
by
© Richard J. Budig 1993

Where've you been, my child?
Here...but gone these long years.

Here, but gone? How's that, child?
Someone took my me, and left but fear.

Took your "me?" Tell me how, child?
In pitchy black came they near.

No! In pitchy black, my child?
At dawn's light, too, they came so dear.

By night and day...right, my child?
Yes, yes, in secret and in fear.

Fear upon fear? Their's became yours?
And more! All my years are but tears.
