Little Boy Lost Why don’t my Daddy love me? The little boy wondered. In heartbreak and confusion- This mystery he pondered. You know? he is my hero- I so much want to please him, He spends his time with Ronnie, And likes to hug and squeeze him Why does he tell me he’ll do things? Which never come to pass- And when I ask him questions... He calls those questions..sass. Maybe it’s because I’m big- And he is really small.. By the time I turned thirteen, I was six feet tall. On my thirteenth birthday.. I looked for quite a lark, He said that he’d run into town, Then we’d go to the park. Hours passed, and still no Dad- It had us all to thinking, Thoughts of wrecks and things like that, But he’d just been out drinking. He was angry, I recall- And slapped me when I cried... Somehow that night, midst rage and fright That little boy died. Years have come, and years have gone But memories remain... And something died within my heart I never shall regain. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |

This broke my heart.....I use to work with children that could've written this I like this type of poetry style Jenny ------------------ Love is an attempt at penetrating another being,But it can only succeed if the surrender is mutual. |

Slinger ... you've touched my heart again with this rendering. If the boy was you ... I'd venture to say that you've turned out quite the man. Here's a *HUG* ... you have so much talent that is admired by so many. Count me in ! ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Gunslinger you really write to the heart here. You always paint such a clear picture but the emotion in this one is very real. |

This is a heartbreaking piece. What a shame for all the little ones who don't get the love that they need and crave. You have portrayed that here so well. ------------------ Denise |

My heart cries out for that little boy. So sad when parents put alcohol (or anything else for that matter) above their children. |
