A Pillow in the Middle
by ãRichard J. Budig 1995

This is -- was -- our bed.
This was my side,
And this was her side.
But we slept in the middle.

We cuddled spoon-fashion,
My arm around her waist,
The scent of her upon me
As we slept in the middle.

Often, I stroked her hair
Until she drifted away,
And then I'd snuggle close
While we lay in the middle.

Ah, this was our bed.
This was my side.
And this was her side.
And we slept in the middle.

But she's found something
She likes better.
So now I sleep alone
With a pillow in the middle.

And when it's late and dark,
I reach out to my pillow
And remember how it was
When we selpt in the middle.

Very touching piece.
The last verse touched my pillow in the middle heart

Broker6,
Better a pillow in the middle
Than no pillow at all.
Enjoyed the read.

Absolutely lovely...and I can relate so well. My pillow lives in the middle too.
