Short Round of Eccentricities, Chapter 1

Now its come to my attention or at least my husband says its so
that all of my quirks and eccentricities simply have got to go;
I do believe he really thinks that I like to create some fuss
for if I don’t do things his way, he really starts to cuss.

What to me is normal and neat, he thinks of as a quirk
but my comeback usually is, “hey, what I do for me just works!”
Like getting a second spoon out, to have some coffee in my cream
because I don’t like his wet spoon to dry, now you know just what I mean.

Let’s see, my coffee should be Irish cream, and to him, something other;
his needs to be black and strong and standing firm, but it’s not my druthers...
and I could go on for days about how we work in our little kitchen
but some of you should really know, it’s not like me to go .....in’!

There must be an old soul in me, that saw the ‘40’s wartime days
for he finds it strange to catch me hiding coins, must be just my way
of saving for a rainy day, but he really finds it weird and kooky
heck, if I did everything I’d like to do, he’d find me downright spooky!

Then there is the matter of house lights, which I like to leave some on
in a room, any room, for no matter that I’m slightly gone
I’m only gone for just a moment, I know I’ll be right back,
but if he’s around, you can bet, the room will be totally black.

Then of course, there’s the car, and it’s my car, don’t you know
[I don’t bother with his truck, you bet, ‘cause he told me so!]
but you can take it to the bank that if he drives my car to town
the seat is changed, music rearranged, and it really gets me down!

Now take the dishwasher, go ahead, aren’t you glad you have one?
So am I, but wouldn’t you know, hubby can take away the fun
of loading it, for I have my way, but don’t you know it’s not right!?
Strange how he looks for ways, just to get me to fuss and fight.

Then there are some other things, like where I take my books for reading..
I really don’t know what his fuss could be, the house has plenty of seating.
And that my brain could really host so many lines to a poem
has got him thinking me really strange, when around the house I roam

at 3 or 4 or 5 a.m., just looking for pencil, paper or pen
and I know he’s so very glad I’m his wife, and not his kith or kin!
