It may have been the moonlight- Glowing on your hair, Or just the smell of cedar, Which lingered in the air. Perhaps it was your emerald eyes, Which seemed to shine so bright, But there was magic somewhere When I met you that first night. We were in a roadside diner, Northwest of San Antone... It was getting close to closing- So we were all alone. You brought a cup of coffee- And sweetly smiled at me- Said, “You must be new to these parts. Sir, what will it be”? I had to get my bearings Before I made reply You left me nearly breathless- And very weak inside. I ate my meal, and paid the check- You walked me to the door. I knew that neither one of us Had felt this way before. I held you and I kissed you- Then I choked, “I have to go. And I walked away from Heaven Just to follow rodeo. I’ve never laid eyes on you- From that day until this, If you should ever hear these words- You’ll know that you were missed. I had to choose, I made my choice- I’m not sure I was right... But I am sure there was magic- On the cool Hill Country night. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ http://www.geocities.com/montcogunslinger/HomePage.html |

Oh, Gunslinger .... you're breaking my heart! I smelled the coffee, I heard the music play, I cried with her ... when you walked away. DAMN THAT RODEO ! ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

So show me all the rules, do kind Sir, please, that women cannot come to the rodeo and see that hunk of wirey sinew ride the horse so strong and be beside their cowboy, where they rightfully belong? ------------------ Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |
