The Silent Patron There was once a young lady who dearly loved to read prose and only city libraries and family dens held her love in books - thus she goes there to read, and take in words of love she read what she felt, or was thinking of. She would read deep into the night allowing others’ words to give her flight from daily chores, family, wars, allowing a reprieve from old scars; in philosophies of young or old all she read, to her, were words of gold. She grew older, but stayed well-content in hours of reading as was her bent, she valued great the time she spent in the poetry she read, ah yes, content. Then one day, when computers became “real” she went to one, to see how it would feel. Thus this woman found another world and images and sound past her hurled; dizzying, a bit frightful, but she sat in at some things she laughed, at others, chagrined. But one day, in her search she found a place, a site, where [gasp] great poetry abound! Online poets, who would have thought... and best of all, nothing to be bought. She found a world wherein she could read at her safe leisure, no need for speed. And best of all, there was wonderful interaction; in this she could perceive the poets’ reactions. She read their works, then she read their minds in all the love spent, in the ways they’d unwind; she witnessed friendship, she would see some sparks, “funny how the tail would wag, while the dog barked...” and one day, she did quite an amazing thing she responded to a poem that made her heart sing. “I like what you did” was all that she said giving the poet a thrill, you bet that she did. A thank you was received, thus her spirits grew, she responded to more poets, their words that she knew, and soon she began on a curious embark her words gave encouragement, she was like a spark. Now, she doesn’t write poetry herself, heavens no she’d rather just read, and see friends’ souls grow she is the poet’s delight, this, the faithful reader, She, the Silent Patron, we need to keep her. And if you’re reading, and if you’re a him, everything can relate to you, for you’re a gem. {*,~} To all Poets at Passions, this is dedicated to our faithful reader, Pepper, and other readers like her, who encourage us, help us, guide us, and light our spark of creativity. ©KRJ 20 November 1999 ------------------ Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Sunshine, You've pulled some heartstrings here, from this almost silent patron, who loves to read the poets' minds. Elizabeth |

Sunshine....the many, many happy hours that I spend here reading and (loving every minute), digesting all the great works to be found here have become a most rewarding and stimulating part of my days. You, the poets, take me to places I could never have found anywhere else. The smiles, the tears I've shed, the profound thoughts I have pondered, the storytelling I've so enjoyed, the dark passions and the praises to our God; all of these and much more too, I consider a priceless gift that you have given to me and anyone else that has been fortunate enough to find their way here.... You keep on writing, and I'll keep on reading........and thus, a wonderful partnership has been born. ------------------ A soul that writes from the heart and shares it, truly gives a gift extraordinaire! |

Sunshine - The joy in knowing that someone reads and enjoys what we write is the delight that rests in every poet's heart. Thanks ... and you just inspired me ... and I'll post one with you in mind. ~Marge~ ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
