Here's to the cabinetmaker, From his one and only son. Since you've gone my life has changed And my heart's come all undone. There is no word to say it There is no song to tell But since you've gone and left us My world's been under spell. A mystical weave of time and love A grandeouse design This mystery of life and death Not only yours but mine. For a part of me is gone now For how long I do not know Buried beneath the dirt of grave Like a blanket of cold snow. There is no way to tell you now How you made me feel And I don't want to believe That all of this is real. I want to say I love you Feel you warm arms wrap about me But I know you're there not here now And that you are fine without me. So I'll leave you with this final thought Before I get too blue I'll see you when my days are done And Daddy, I miss you. ------------------ Once I was brilliant, now I no longer shine, but the twinkle in my eye speaks of another time. |

What heartfelt words for a man who was obviously much loved and is sorely missed. FYI - For an understanding of why we are here and how the processes of life and death fit into the scheme. The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav is a tremendous book that changed my perceptions on life. -RS |

I miss my Daddy, too. This poem made me weep for him. It's a lovely poem, indeed Elizabeth |

This is an excellent tribute to, obviously, a fine man. For you to feel this way, he left you a great legacy. Well done, Robert. |

Very touching tribute to your father, Robert and as you alluded to in your last line, no matter how old we and they are when they pass on, it is the Daddy or Mommy of our youth for whom we grieve. Something that you don't realize until you experience it. Again, well done, Robert. ------------------ Denise |

Thanks all. It took me a long time to finally put on paper something about my father. This month marks the one-year anniversary of his death and so much has changed. You honestly can't realize how much of an effect a person has on your life until they are no longer in it. ------------------ Once I was brilliant, now I no longer shine, but the twinkle in my eye speaks of another time. |

My sympathies,RS. And I agree with you. We don't realize the impact of a loved one, fully, on our lives until they are gone. Again, my sympathies. ------------------ Denise |
