My daughter and I share our poetry. One day, this showed up in the mail from her to me. I was very surprised and pleased.

The Poet
by ©Bridgette Blumanthal 1999

My father sends his love in the mail
It's hidden within the lines
Of the poems he shares with me
It's his way of letting me know
Without having to say it
That I am always in his mind
And though he may falter
At conversation
He gives a greater gift
His creativity refreshes me
At the end of my day
And as I sit in the quiet
Reading the lines he strings
Together like delicate pearls
Often moved to laughter
Sometimes mingled with tears
His heart, his soul,
His essence are revealed
I know I am loved
Past hurts have been healed
I am connected to my father the poet

broker6,
This is your best at least to me. If only every son would think and feel this way.
Excellent.

You and she are both blessed my friend. I share my poetry with my father and my mother. Though they do not write they can feel the what I mean and how I love them through my works. I sent a poem I worte to my father a couple of weeks ago. It was entitled Daddy's Girl. My mother told he that he said.."So she is a Daddy's girl hmm?" My mother replied.."How can you not know that? She has always be your special one." lol. Sometimes we take things for granted. I am very glad that you and your daughter can communicate through your poetry.

What a beautiful poem .....what a blessing to see the love and appreciation that she feels for her father....you must feel so proud and rightly so!
This touched me so.....
