I think I know myself quite well. I know what makes me tick. Like all, I have my good and bad And so-so....take your pick. I think I can present myself As being fairly wise. I wonder, though, how I must look In someone else's eyes. If I were looking at myself From someone else's view, Would I see those same qualities I feel that I embue? Or would I see myself a fool, A not so valued prize, When judged beneath the scrutiny Of someone else's eyes? The confidence I feel inside - Does it come out as vain? Do words I speak at foolish moments Serve to foster pain? When I display my cunning wit To get a little rise, Does it come out as cruelty In someone else's eyes? I try to be sincere. I try To be the best I can, To live my life the best I know And be a friend to man. Do I appear to be a friend Or villain in disguise When held up to the judgement of Somebody else's eyes? Sometimes I'd like to take my hands And open wide my skin To give the world a chance to know The soul who lies within. Would it be as expected or Would it be a surprise If we could ever see ourselves In someone else's eyes? |

Balladeer ... positively thought-provoking. I really like the concept of being viewed through someone else's eyes. A very, very nice job here. ------------------ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

We'd probably get lost trying to keep up with all the 'someone else's' out there! Yes, Balladeer I have thought this myself many times and asked the question - are we who other's see us as? Or are we as we see ourselves? Great work. K |

What other people see is always colored by the patina of their experience. I think it's nice that everyone sees different--Even how we view ourselves changes constantly as we change and grow and sluff off old skin. I see a man I like when I look at you through your words, Balladeer. What do you see? |

Sir Balladeer: Another fine offering... what I see... a caring person with a good soul who is open to the world. A friend I've never met... a talent worthy of praise. And I'm sure a great many will say the same. |

Great poem Sir Balladeer. Do I fall short of what I wish to be or am I more then I ever expected, In someone else's eyes. |

My friend, we all question our values and how we appear to others from time to time, but, we each have loveable qualities, we each have something to say that is important to others, should they choose to listen but most importantly, you're a LEO...that's it my friend...you are here, man, beast and friend, yep, I left out the lover bit, cause Leo's are no good at that bit, ooops...help my ears just got deafened in the roar of denial..*g* ooops, did I ramble, well if I did, it's cause I cared enough to do so and I am a Leo, what more should one expect? Within the eyes of a true friend, I see the kind of man, Who gives himself completely And lends a helping hand. Within the minds of those who know The real, passionate you, It would never be disputed, Another would not do! Within the hearts friends true, We hold your friendship near. So, never doubt yourself, Michael... You see, we love our 'deer!! |

We all see you as wise, and not vain. You're a wonderful, warm, caring, person and that's how I view you through my eyes. The list could go on here but I don't think their is enough room. hehe Now as for me I don't believe that I view myself like others do. Lots to think about here. Excellent poetry but it always is! Thanks for being you buddy and don't ever change that!!!! |

Balladeer, I second all of the above. And as far as poetry goes, in my humble opinion you are rare. How rare will come only after you are gone. But I intend to enjoy you while you are still here. The poem is a delight. |

I know my friends see me more kindly than I view myself. *S* (And I'm not about to suggest they need glasses. *G*) This "someone" sees you as a delightful man, with incredible intelligence and a talent for making us "see" things that make us better persons but that we'd miss without you pointing the way. I could list many sterling qualities (almost as many as Toe has *EG*)... but I'd rather just say I see a friend I'm very glad entered my life. Well done, 'Deer one! |

hey can I ditto all of the above? specially suthern cause she loves it when I ditto her *g* no really great poem, questioning the worth of your own self esteem, I really like this. And I know just what you mean, I don't feel "pretty" inside or out till someone elses eyes make it so. And you know the owners of the eyes mean a lot as to the value of the view....so...what I am trying to say...is that if you add up all of the opinions of the "eyes" above, you are a very rich man |

A short reply in black and blue to make a response there to read, I see before me a fellow who is not a friend in need. For I only know him through written word, funny, cute, kind or sincere, never would I think him absurd, but only as our own special brand of 'Deer. He poses questions never silly, and professes through word to teach, his thought process never willy-nilly; if I could hear him, I'd like his speech. I've learned much from ol' 'Deer's prose, come to find out what he knows, and we've just scratched the surface near to what he could teach, our good 'ol 'Deer. So to see him through his eyes, you bet! a comet on the fly; for to catch his goodness in my net, 'tis guaranteed I'm gonna try. ------------------ Sunshine Look, then, into thine heart, and write ~~~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow |

Can a man who walks, talks, and writes with such wisdom, be ever seen as anything less then thoughtful, full of life, and brilliant? I think not at least through my eyes you are one of a kind, and you wear it well. [This message has been edited by Lost Dreamer (edited 12-03-1999).] |
