Sanctions Sanctions have the rule of me, Reigning me in ennui. Festering within my known, The gloomiest overtone. Nursing on my energies, Drinking my abilities. Leaving me in darkest gloom, Grumbling in an empty room. It does not care the season, Nor does it give me reason, Just turns this bilious engine, Into something not worth mention. Save one thing to which I cling, Winter, summer and the spring. And sets the table every morn, Although I drink it with some scorn. Bran, the god of my behavior. Bran my partner and my savior. |

LOL... Love those last two lines. I should print this one for my father! He absolutely hates the stuff. Oh... I had to go look up "ennui." Do you really use that word? |

Ever the riddler - I think your use of ennui was most appropriate - now having said that, I'll go look it up in the dictionary!!! hehe. Great rhyme again Sy. |

I get annoyed when I am fed Words that fly above my head To my dictionary I have fled A practice which I really dread It's so annoying this new word, "Ennui", which I've never heard I'm too annoyed to look it up This lovely poem to interrupt The poem sounds great the way it is No matter what the meaning is Love the way you put words together, no matter what the words. Scott, Not in my normal conversations, thanks for the read. Severn, I'm sure you know what it means. Thanks for the read and comment. Elizabeth, Beautiful and thoughtful poem. Ennui, Boredom languor and unpleasure. |
