Tormented soul, to take his life-
At only thirty three...
And artist, yes, par excellence-
Or, so esteemed by me.
Perhaps he went too far into-
Those ancient lands and fell,
Victim to some sorcerer-
And perished to his spell.
The mighty thews conceived by him
The deadly flashing blade,
Swords and sorcery, and all....
The tools of Howard’s trade.
Could not deliver Robert,
When the melancholy came..
And Conan, and Red Sonja-
Are still calling out his name.
What could drive a man to lengths
To which this man did go?
What could bring such pain, that he
The weaklings route did go?
Pray, let us call it weakness,
I’d not call him a coward-
Like Conan, I would lift a glass,
To poor dead Robert Howard.

Nice tribute to a fallen friend...May he reside with that which he created
